The monthly activity of the Independent Life Support Centers (CAVI), which are part of the pilot project of the Independent Life Support Model (MAVI), is reported to the National Institute for Rehabilitation, I.P., based on the completion of the monitoring grids by each of the institutions.

According to these monitorings, in February 2022, in the 35 projects in operation, 985 people were supported, of which 432 in the North Region, 203 in the Centre Region, 127 in the Alentejo Region (762 people supported in the POISE territory), 39 in the Algarve Region and 184 in the Lisbon Region.

Of the 985 people supported, 513 are female and 472 are male, and people aged 17-92 were supported, with an average age of 46.

From the start of the project until 28 February 2022, a total of 2 136 514 (two million, one hundred and thirty-six thousand, five hundred and fourteen) hours were provided, of which 1 596 621 (one million, five hundred and ninety-six thousand, six hundred and twenty-one) hours were provided in the territory covered by POISE, 178 555 (one hundred and seventy-eight thousand, five hundred and fifty-five) hours in the Algarve Region and 361 338 (three hundred and sixty-one thousand, three hundred and thirty-eight) hours in the Lisbon Region.

In February there was an increase in the number of active PIAPs and new PIAPs and a decrease in the number of suspended PIAPs. The number of personal assistants under contract with CAVI as well as the number of personal assistants providing personal assistance increased compared to the previous month.

Since the changes allowed by the country-wide extension of the project began to be implemented, the number of active PIAPs has been increasing every month, with February 2022 being the sixth consecutive month in which this happened and in which the number of PIAPs, which had been defined by the entities applying, was exceeded.
