Leaving Karate

The long-awaited Leaving Karate, by Miguel Castro Caldas and Pedro Gil, arrives at the São Luiz Theatre between June 24 and July 5, in the Mário Viegas Room. Starting from the coincidence of both being theatre and karate artists, the show crosses life, stage and martial arts with humor and reflection. São Luiz offers sessions with LGP (28 June), audio description (3 and 5 July, with tactile recognition) and subtitles in Portuguese and English (1 to 5 July). Theater: LEAVE KARATE By Miguel Castro Caldas and Pedro Gil

Session with Interpretation in Portuguese Sign Language: 28 June, Sunday at 4 p.m. Sessions with Audio description: 3-5 July, Friday at 19.30 and Sunday at 16.00 (stage recognition always one hour before) Sessions with Subtitles in Portuguese and English (via individual mobile devices): 1 to 5 July, Wednesday to Saturday at 7.30 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m.

Miguel Castro Caldas and Pedro Gil are theatre artists and were, coincidentally, karate artists. A question that is usually asked to those who practice karate is: Have you ever used karate in your life? But you never ask: Have you ever used your life in karate? No one asks an actor: Have you ever used karate in theatre? Or, have you ever used the theater in karate? Or the theater in life? Questions that, for Miguel and for Pedro, make perfect sense.
